HISTORY
-
The original site of our family owned and operated resort was the site where the Albertina steamboat landed as well as other local steamboats that carried freight and many passengers.
-
In 1900 through 1907, two hotels were constructed, the Albion and the Jack Aherns Hotel that legacy continues. Both operated as a small summer resort with a riverfront dance hall that was an open-air pavilion where many gathered to socialize. During prohibition, the dance hall was enclosed to protect the patrons from the new law.Today, one of the hotels still stands erected and is known as the Overlook Cottage. The Peninsula house was once Riverfront dance hall and was converted after World War II into a summer bungalow colony.
